Tsokolo

My name is Tsokolo Mochebelele (Mofokeng), but at home I am commonly known as Sono or Matekoane. I was born and raised in Maokeng (though we the township folks passionately refer to it as Mozolo) in the Free State-South Africa. I am 42 years and currently a teacher of Physical Sciences at Lephola Secondary School in Thabong-Welkom, located in the Free State-SA.

It has always been a dream of mine to develop a family website since I realised the power that lies in information technology. Actually the idea formed in my mind when I got an opportunity to visit the USA in 2004. I was impressed by how powerful IT is and how it changes and makes peoples lives easy. During our sabbatical in the US we were given computer training, especially IT intergration in the classroom.

When I came back from the three-months long visist of the United States I started throwing ideas at myself around a family website. The idea formed and was finally realised in 2009, when I started studying for National Diploma in IT with UNISA. As part of the course requirement, I was supposed to develop a website. And this is how our family website came into being. Our site was officially launched on November 17, 2009.

The concept of family has always fascinated me. For every family to maintain the existence of its deep-rooted family values from one generation to another, they must have some form of an archive, be it in the form of photos or a journal. We thought of preserving our memories and history through the use of a website. This site is to be used as a reference source of information by family members and anybody who is interested in its contents. Please see the site disclaimer for the Terms and Conditions of use of the information in this website.
