A gallery of memories

This is a collage of photos of our family from as far back as the early 1900's up to this present day. This album has been compiled to reflect the moment in time in our family. It is a representation of transition from one generation to another in our family.

This montage has a variety of photos from different decades in our lifetime. Some of the photos are black and white, representing a time in the life of our family when the lives of the black people were being adversely affected by apartheid. They reflect the joy that filled our lives, the time when being a family mattered the most despite the difficulties we endured during those times. The transition to coloured photos in the 70's both represented the development of photo/pictures technology and growth of (the size of) our family.

This gallery is also intended to depict not only the happy moments (marriages, blessings' ceremonies, thanks-giving, religious offerings and birthday parties) we enjoyed in our lifetime. But also the tragic times we faced when we lost our beloved ones (from our grandparents, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and in-laws to brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers).
